Founder Annika Wetterlin PAWPAW YOGAWEAR
I‘ve done a lot of different things in my life; from market economics to advertising to writing children´s books. When I fell in love with yoga I wanted to dig deeper so I decided to do a yoga teacher training. I spent my days (weeks and months) in comfortable yoga/leisure wear but it was hard to find clothes that I liked, that expressed my personality, and that were organic and eco-friendly. So I decided to create my own!
I would love to paint a glamorous picture of my working place but the truth is that my office is under our stairs. Like Harry Potter! I spend my days there when I´m not in the studio teaching yoga. Soft music from Stacey Kent and Diana Krall in my ears, and my dogs chilling around my feet, are all part of a typical workday for me.
The clothes are made of organic cotton in a GOTS approved factory in India. PawPaw workers get a living wage, which enables them to better support their families. When the collection is ready to leave the factory it travels by boat to Sweden and customer orders are sent out in a small bag made out of recycled cotton. Trees used during the production of my collection are replaced through Zeromission.
I often get asked the question: ‘isn´t both cheaper and easier to use the non-organic cotton?’ This might be true but I stand true to my choice - to play right and fair to our world. We can be nice to ourselves and take care of the environment at the same time. In my opinion you can´t do one thing without the other.
I try to be true to what I believe in. Staying focused on the goal of beautiful, comfortable and eco friendly clothes. So when I need to make an important decision or something worries me I take a long walk with the dogs or meditate and then often things fall into place, at least most of the time. As a self-employed entrepreneur there is always things to worry about and at the same time, things to be happy about. So I co-operate with some inspiring, professional and positive people and that makes my working life much easier.
