What is Vinyasa Flow Yoga?

Nyasa means “to place” and, with the prefix Vi, it means “to place in a special way”.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga is usually a flowing sequence of breath-synchronised movement – moving from one pose to another on an inhale or exhale. There are many different types of Vinyasa Flow Yoga, but the best known is Ashtanga Yoga which follows a set sequence of poses. Some Vinyasa Flow classes don’t follow a set sequence, but the common thread for this style of yoga is the idea of moving on the breath.
