What is Shadow Yoga?

Shadow Yoga is a system of yoga which blends traditional Hatha Yoga postures with the graceful movement of martial arts. This type of yoga is great for beginners as it focuses heavily on preparatory poses and easing into each movement.

Created by Natanaga Zhander, also known as Shandor Remete, Shadow Yoga uses three fluid routines, or 'preludes', to undo habitual patterns of tension which obstruct the movement of 'the vital breath' and energy. The aim of these preludes is to increase the flow of energy, and to facilitate the practice of other yoga poses. In practice, Shadow Yoga resembles Tai Chi, but its movements are more directed and specific to certain parts of the body and flows of energy.
