What is Chair Yoga?

Chair yoga is suitable for people of all levels of fitness, beginners and advanced yogis alike. This type of yoga is gentler than others, as it is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing, using a chair for support, which helps with balance and minimises pressure on the lower joints such as the hips and knees.

If age, disability or injury prevents you from participating in a typical yoga class Chair Yoga could be a style to consider. Traditional yoga poses are adapted and supported with a chair making them accessible to everyone, and as the class will often be seated you won’t need to worry about getting up or down off the floor or standing for long periods. Even desk workers and travellers can take advantage of Chair Yoga, enabling all to experience the benefits of yoga regardless of physical limitations.
